Ginormous Christmas Weekend Ahead

ROYSTON, GEORGIA – A panoply of Christmas events are on this weekend in Franklin County, Hart County and Madison County.

Hartwell’s Parade of Lights begins Friday evening at 6:30. They’ll start at Bells and then travel down Franklin Street to the High School. It is a big one this year with more than 50 entries taking part.

Colbert’s Old Fashioned Christmas begins Friday evening at 6:30 at the pavilion. The event will feature a hayride, face-painting, music and free food. Bring a donation of canned food, an unwrapped toy or pet supplies. All are being collected to help Madison County families in need during the Christmas Season.

Lavonia’s Christmas Fest is set to begin Friday afternoon at 5 at the gazebo. The whole town is in on the fun with merchants staying open late and story time train rides modeled on the Polar Express. Trains leave on the half hour and the trip is about 20 miles each way.

On Saturday afternoon, join us for the Royston Christmas Parade. The event will step off starting at 4:30 making its way to Wellness Park for the community tree lighting at 6:30.

Santa in Madison County Friday

COLBERT, GEORGIA - Colbert will be hosting Santa during their annual “Old Fashioned Christmas” celebration on Friday.

The event will feature a hayride, face-painting, music and free food.

Bring a donation of canned food, an unwrapped toy or pet supplies. All are being collected to help Madison County families in need during the Christmas Season.

The “Old Fashioned Christmas in Colbert” starts Friday evening at 6:30 at the pavilion.

Christmas Events this Weekend in Hart, Franklin and Madison

ROYSTON, GEORGIA – A number of Christmas events are planned this weekend in Madison County, Hart County and Franklin County.

- Canon’s Christmas Parade will step off Saturday at 11am.

- Comer does their Christmas Parade on Saturday at 2 p.m. The theme this year, “Christmas Through the Years,”  honors the Madison County Bicentennial.

- Bowman’s Christmas Parade is set for Saturday at 2 pm. They’ll start at Bowman City Park.

- Carnesville’s Christmas Parade begins at 2pm on Saturday.

- Lavonia is doing their Christmas Parade on Sunday. They’ll start at 3pm at City Hall.

- Hartwell Service League’s annual Christmas Tour will take place Saturday, from 5-8 and Sunday, from 2-5 p.m.

Christmas Kicks off in Hartwell and Hull

HARTWELL, GEORGIA – Hartwell’s 15th Annual Home for the Holidays Christmas Tree lighting is coming up Tuesday at the Courthouse.

The event is sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority and will feature caroling and other festivities.

Home for the Holidays runs from 6 until 8 Tuesday on the square in downtown Hartwell.

Hull will light their community Christmas Tree on Tuesday.

Members of the Sunrise Trio will be the featured entertainment for the annual event.

The tree ceremony is coming up at the pavilion on Georgia Highway 72 starting at 6.

Health Fair Friday

HARTWELL, GEORGIA - Ty Cobb Healthcare System is sponsoring a community health fair on Friday.

You can get discounted cholesterol, thyroid, and PSA lab tests as well as some free health checks for blood pressure, bone density, oxygen saturation and sleep apnea.

Lavonia VFW hosts Veterans Weekend

LAVONIA, GEORGIA – VFW Post #5897 will host a free Veteran’s Day hamburger and hot dog dinner at 6 pm on Friday.

All are invited to come celebrate and thank all our veterans on this special day.

On Saturday they’re hosting a dance with music provided by Beaver Dam Connection. The band begins at 8 pm. The cover is $5 per person at the door.

Veterans Day Program

HARTWELL, GEORGIA - Hart County High School will host the annual Veteran’s Day program on Wednesday.

The guest speaker is William DeVane, assistant football coach and the son of a United States Marine.

This year’s program honors veterans of all eras and will include the Service Medley, a patriotic video and tribute to Hart County’s honored dead.

HCHS Veterans Day program begins at 10 am Wednesday in the Lonnie Burns Fine Arts Center.

Saturday Depot Day in Hartwell

HARTWELL, GEORGIA – Saturday is Depot Day in Hartwell.

This is the sixth year for the event and Pilot Club members promise new games and rides for the kids as well as a petting zoo and pony rides.

Vendors of handcrafted jewelry, clothing and woodcrafts will be set up around the downtown town square.

Depot Day runs from 10am till 4pm on Saturday.

Hart County Christmas Tour

HARTWELL, GEORGIA – The Hart County Service League is getting ready for their annual Christmas Tour of Homes.

The event is set for Saturday, December 3rd from 5 until 8pm and Sunday, December 4th from 2pm until 5pm.

This year’s tour will feature the homes of Pam and Walter Gordon on Benson Street, Greg Hall and Melissa Hill on Lakeshore Drive and Jerry and Terry Ann McHan on Brown Street. Tours of the Art Center in downtown Hartwell and St. Andrew’s Church on Fairview Ave are also planned.

You can get the $15 tickets from any member of the Hart County Service League or just stop by the Chamber of Commerce.

Proceeds from the tour will go to purchase books for Hart County Students.
